Vow to love your baby and all children, forever.  Mentors will take the place of Godparents, as they pledge to love and protect your baby.  Your other children can even promise to care for their new sibling.

 

Involving your other children in such things as a sand ceremony will help with the transition.  They will know that you love them just as much as the new baby.

 

During your personalized ceremony, you can plant a tree or bury a time capsule, and you can even surprise everyone by announcing the baby’s name for the very first time. 

 

You will decide the date of the ceremony because there is no waiting period.  There are no classes or restrictions.  The ideas are only limited by your imagination.

A similar ceremony can also be used to welcome a child into the family.  This is a great option for adoptive families or for those who have become guardians.  This can be used for babies as well as older children.    An older child will really feel like part of the family when you have a ceremony in their honour.

 

A ceremony of this type is also useful to help children with the changes that take place after a wedding.  Although the wedding joined your two families to one, the children may still need a little more reassurance.  We may also be able to incorporate some of these ideas into your wedding ceremony.
