About Wendy ... |
Helping You From "Yes" to "I Do"! |
As an Entrepreneur… |
Self-employment is not new to Wendy. Her parents owned and operated service stations, rental properties and a convenience store; therefore, she was raised in a business environment. At only twelve years old, Wendy began her wedding journey. She was introduced to the wedding industry by labelling videotapes for brother Ross Squires, owner of Memories Forever Video Productions, Limousine Service and Honeymoon Suite. In 2000, Wendy married her high school sweetheart, Shawn Ennis. They now own three small businesses. Wendy manages her massage therapy practice and wedding business, while Shawn works as a general contractor and employs several people. |

As a Marriage Commissioner… |

As a Videographer… |
Ross Squires and Derrick Squires operate Memories Forever Video Productions in St. John’s and in Ajax, Ontario, respectively. Wendy did not know that she would follow in her brothers’ footsteps and also become a professional Videographer. At only nineteen, Wendy’s video career began. The long hours, the highway driving, the physical labour and the stressful situations, quickly instilled characteristics like working well with others, confidence, assertiveness, dedication and professionalism. Over the next nine years, she gained invaluable experience in the wedding industry. Throughout her video career, Wendy trained and pursued a career as a Registered Massage Therapist. After three years of managing both careers, Wendy had to make the unfortunate decision to conclude her video work. Wendy knew that video would always be a part of her life and she credits her video work for helping her to become the entrepreneur that she is today. |

As a Civil Celebrant… |
After working with so many wedding clients who wanted their ceremonies outside of the church, Wendy noticed a general need for other non-denominational ceremonies. She then created a baby-naming ceremony and a funeral ceremony to meet the demand. She is the first and only person in Newfoundland to provide this type of service. For those families who do not want religious ceremonies, they finally have a choice. They will make use of these services for all family celebrations because they are personalized to suit their needs. Wendy looks forward to working with these families and has been told that her caring nature makes them feel like she is part of the family. |

Wendy and Shawn had a civil wedding ceremony in 2000 and they personalized a few things in their ceremony, even then. Little did she know that in 2003, she would become a Marriage Commissioner. This complemented the planning business very well. Because of her time as a Videographer, she learned about the things couples liked and disliked about their wedding ceremonies. She will allow you to take control of your wedding ceremony. You can choose the who, what, when and where about your ceremony. |
You reap the benefits of Wendy’s expertise. She will dedicate time to your wedding and show you that she really cares about your special day. Her passion for weddings will shine through as she reads your wedding vows. And who better to marry you, than someone who is so happily married herself. |
Although she would no longer be behind the camera, Wendy knew that her passion for weddings would continue. She decided to help couples prepare for their wedding, from a practical point of view, with the knowledge she attained. She can assist you with hiring the professionals for your wedding, predominantly in the St. John’s area. While some of the practical helpful hints deal with issues that pertain to Newfoundland weddings, many of the hints can be used by anyone, anywhere. Wendy is currently writing a wedding book, but it will take a number of years to be finished. You can keep it in mind. |

As a Registered Massage Therapist… |
Wendy works in Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s, as a registered massage therapist. She has a special interest in working with children and educating parents about the benefits of paediatric massage therapy. She even named her business, Neverland Massage Therapy Clinic, with children in mind. Wendy has been a director with the Newfoundland and Labrador Massage Therapists’ Association and now holds a seat on the board. Although she is busy with all three companies and volunteering, she manages everything very well. |

As a Wedding Advisor… |
As a BIG sister with Big Brothers, Big Sisters… |
Wendy and Shawn adore children. In 2000, they were blessed to meet their LITTLE brother, Gregory Caines. From the first smile, he warmed their hearts and they knew he was the perfect little brother for them. Every Sunday, since February 2001, they have been getting together and have lots and lots of FUN! Even with their busy schedules, Wendy and Shawn always make time for Greg. They hope that he is learning, by their example, that he can do anything if he works for it. For information about how to become a big sister, brother or couple, please contact your local Big Brothers & Sisters organization. |
